- Coming off its second WCC series of the season last weekend, San Francisco faced off against Pepperdine at Eddy D. Field Stadium on Friday, Apr. 6 – Sunday, Apr. 8.
- Highlighted by Kody Watanabe's first-career grand slam, the Dons dismantled the Waves on Saturday, earning an 11-2 win using a six-run sixth inning to take control of the contest.
- Trailing 2-0 after five innings of play, Michael Campagna kickstarted the rally with his team-leading sixth home run of the season before Watanabe recorded his four-RBI knock, and JT Amaral scored on an error to put the Dons up 6-2.
- Watanabe continues to lead the team with a .333 batting average through 32 games, recording 34 hits in 102 at-bats. Within the WCC, Watanabe ranks eighth in batting average, tied for 14th in hits, tied for first in doubles (11), tied for 11th in RBI (24), second in on-base percentage (.504), and tied for ninth in stolen bases (seven).
- Lance Santerre leads the green in gold on the mound, accumulating a team-best 3.31 earned-run average. Santerre has totaled 35.1 innings pitched while allowing 26 hits, 13 earned runs, and 16 walks in eight appearances. The graduate student from Gridley, Calif., ranks second on the team with 35 strikeouts, and opponents record a .217 batting average against him, the lowest of all pitchers on the team with at least six starts.
- Overall, San Francisco rank seventh in the WCC in batting average (.253) and second in earned-run average (4.67). On the mound, the Dons have six players with an earn-run average of 5.00 or lower who have appeared in at least five games this season.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES:
- UC Davis enters the week on a two-game losing streak after falling in the final two games of its three-game series against Hawaii. The Aggies have also lost four of their last six games, dating back to Thursday, Mar. 28 at CSUN.
- Mark Wolbert leads the Aggies offensively, posting a .324 batting average, the lone team member hitting over. 300. In 28 games, Wolbert also ranks first or tied for first on the team in hits (35), triples (one), RBI (16), and hit-by-pitch (five).
- On the mound, Noah Valdez, the Aggies' best starting pitcher, leads the team with a 4.25 earned-run average, allowing 20 earned runs in 42.1 innings pitched. Valdez has pitched six or more innings four times while going six strong, allowing just one run on six hits and recording nine strikeouts in a 9-5 win over BYU on Saturday, Feb. 24.
SERIES HISTORY:
San Francisco and UC Davis have faced off 26 times since the 2006 season, with the Dons holding a 15-11 advantage over the Aggies. The Dons have won four straight games, dating back to 2020, outscoring the Aggies 23-10 during those four years.
