KANSAS CITY, Mo. - United Soccer Coaches recently announced the goalkeepers on its NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Players to Watch lists for the 2024 season.
 
For San Francisco, Eric Waltz, the reigning West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, was one of five Division I men's goalkeepers to earn this prestigious honor. To view the full list of goalkeepers, please click here.
 
The lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second-team All-Region players from 2023, who are scheduled to return for the 2024 season.
 
In addition to being named WCC Goalkeeper of the Year, Waltz earned WCC Honorable Mention honors while also being selected to the United Soccer Coaches West All-Region Second Team. Appeared in all 17 matches for San Francisco, the San José native posted multiple dominant performances for the Dons in 2023 as he played all but 45 minutes for USF last fall. During conference play, Waltz finished tied for first in shutouts (six), third in goals against average (.848), fourth in saves (45) and fourth in save percentage (.763) as he registered three shutouts against conference opponents. Notably, the keeper was crucial for the green and gold down the stretch as he tallied back-to-back shutouts on the road at Pacific (Oct. 21) and Santa Clara (Oct. 25).
 
San Francisco will host their first home match at Negoesco Stadium this Friday, Aug. 16 when they welcome California for an exhibition. No live stream or live stats will be available for the exhibition. USF will officially begin the 2024 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 22 as the Dons are set to battle Cal Poly at 7:30 pm.
