SAN BRUNO, Calif. –
Madison McPherson, a freshman setter on the University of San Francisco volleyball team, has been named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Helping guide San Francisco to two wins over Saint Mary's and LMU last week, McPherson registered impressive numbers from the setter position. In the win over the Gaels, McPherson recorded her first-career double-double with 14 assists and a career-best 14 digs.
She followed with her second straight double-double, matching her career-high in assists with 21 and adding 11 digs in the four-set win over the Lions.
In 20 career matches, McPherson has accumulated 87 assists, 1.74 assists per set, six service aces, 11 kills, and a .333 hitting percentage.
For San Francisco, this weekly award marks the first for the program this season.
