SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco baseball team (14-21, 4-7 WCC) fell 12-4 to LMU (18-17, 6-5 WCC) in a West Coast Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Nate Savoie opened up the scoring for LMU in the first inning with a long three-run home run over the left-field wall for an early 3-0 advantage.
- San Francisco responded in the bottom of the second, tallying three runs to level the game at three. After a pair of errors and a Zack Ramppen RBI single, Kenny DeCelle sliced a single through the right side of the infield, scoring Ramppen and Tyler Harries to tie the game.
- Following two scoreless frames, the Lions took charge and recorded five runs in the fifth to take a commanding 8-3 lead. Two home runs highlighted the inning as Beau Ankeney and Zion Williams left the ballpark.
- The Lions added four more tallies in the seventh and ninth innings to break open the game, 12-3.
- Brendan Burke added a late run on the board in the final half inning, connecting on a solo home run over the left-center field wall to bring the Dons to within 12-4. Despite the late rally, the green and gold failed to score in the bottom of the ninth as the Lions secured the victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Five players recorded base hits throughout the contest as Decelle extended his hitting streak to four with a one-for-three performance. Driving in a pair of runs, DeCelle added to his season total of 22 while recording his seventh multi-RBI game this season.
