SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Despite a late rally, the University of San Francisco baseball team (18-25, 6-11 WCC) dropped a 4-1 West Coast Conference decision to Pepperdine (11-32, 6-11 WCC) Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

Pepperdine struck first in the first inning as Justin Rubin recorded an RBI single for an early 1-0 lead.
After back-to-back scoreless frames, a two-run home run off the bat of Andrew Savage extended the Waves' lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth. Another run came across for Pepperdine in the seventh to push the margin to 4-0.
San Francisco got on the board in the final inning, as consecutive doubles from Patrick Keighran and Eddison Esquivel plated the Dons' first run.
Despite a late rally, loading the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Dons' failed to plate another run as the Waves secured the 4-1 victory with an inning-ending double play.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Esquivel posted his ninth multi-hit game of the season, going two-for-four with a double and recorded the Dons' lone RBI.
Joe Soberon pitched 5.1 solid innings out of the bullpen, allowing three runs on two hits and stuck out five batters.
Cal Amborn and Hunter Holzemer combined for two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
