PULLMAN, Wash. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (14-19) closed its four-game road swing at Washington State (13-19), falling 8-3 Monday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco trailed early, falling behind when Washington State plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- Brendan Burke helped cut into the deficit in the top of the third, ripping an RBI double down the left-field line. Nick Walsh scored the Dons' opening tally, earning a seven-pitch walk to begin the frame.
- After the Cougars added to their lead in the bottom of the third, expanding the margin to 4-1, Kody Watanabe scored a run on a Trevor Harmon ground out in the sixth to get within 4-2.
- Washington State built its lead to 8-2 before the San Francisco offense returned to work, reducing the deficit to 8-3 in the eighth. With the bases loaded, Watanabe crossed home on a Jordan Lewis ground out to first base.
- The Dons failed to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the game.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Dylan Brown was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two innings, surrendering one run on one hit, walking two, and striking out three.
- In the batter's box, the Dons were led by Burke, who went one-for-four on the day with a double and an RBI.
- Watanabe also put together a noteworthy performance at the dish, going one-for-three with a double and a walk.
- Kenny DeCelle also chipped in for San Francisco, recording one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.

San Francisco returns to the Hilltop when it hosts a three-game West Coast Conference series against LMU beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 11, at Benedetti Diamond.
