Harmon's Late Home Run Lifts Dons Past Toreros

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Led by Trevor Harmon's eighth-inning home run and a Jackson Nystrom grand slam, the University of San Francisco baseball team (17-15, 8-3) earned a 7-5 come-from-behind victory over San Diego (13-19, 6-5) Saturday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Nystrom connected on a home run over the left-center field wall, his first-career grand slam, to give San Francisco a 4-3 lead.
- Adding to the lead in the following frame, Isaiah Landry knocked in Brendan Burke with a double down the left-field line for a 5-3 advantage.
- San Diego tied the game at five in the top of the fifth on a Jayden Lobliner two-run home run.
- Regaining the lead in the bottom half of the eighth inning, Harmon, down in the count, recorded a solo home run to left field, giving the green and gold a 6-5 lead.
- Jayden Garrison drove in Eddison Esquivel with a two-out RBI triple later in the frame to give the Dons a two-run lead at 7-5.
- Nick Bacura held the Toreros scoreless in the top of the ninth inning to secure the victory and even the series.
- Nystrom paced San Francisco offensively, going one-for-two at the plate with a home run and four RBI.
- Harmon also found success with the long ball, recording his second home run of the season while going two-for-four with an RBI and a run scored.
- Quentin Pohorski earned the win on the mound as he pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, three walks, and striking out three batters.
- Bacura pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his team-leading seventh save of the season and recorded two strikeouts.
- As a team, San Francisco pitchers limited San Diego to just one-for-seven (.143) with runners in scoring position.
