Golden Bears Shut Out Dons on Monday

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (16-14) dropped an 8-0 nonconference decision at home to California (15-16) Monday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- California broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth inning, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Golden Bears added six more runs in the seventh and eighth innings to pull away and hold on for the 8-0 victory.
- San Francisco had an opportunity to add runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, loading the bases following a double from Tyler Harries, an Isaiah Landry walk, and an Eddison Esquivel hit-by-pitch. The Golden Bears escaped without allowing a run, recording a strikeout and a double play shortly after to end the threat.
- Harries recorded San Francisco's lone base hits, going two-for-four at the plate with a double.
- Alan Gonzalez earned his first-career start on the mound for the green and gold, pitching two scoreless innings and recording two strikeouts.
- Despite allowing two hits, Cal Amborn pitched a clean inning and registered two groundball outs.
