Battle in the Bay Classic

Battle in the Bay Classic Set for September

The Battle in the Bay Classic is inspired by competition at the highest level of singles and doubles play in NCAA Division I tennis – not just in the Bay Area, but all of California and beyond.  The 2015 event is scheduled for Sept. 17-20, and will showcase the nation's top teams, including some of the premier programs in the country. The field will be showcased by some of the state's leaders in Southern Cal, Pepperdine, Stanford, San Diego and California, along with other regional and national teams. In its seventh year, the Classic goes co-ed.

The Battle in the Bay Tennis Classic was formed by the San Francisco director of tennis Peter Bartlett, head men's tennis coach Pablo Pires de Almeida, and the California Tennis Club director of tennis, Steve Jackson.

Battle in the Bay Classic is an Intercollegiate Tennis Association sanctioned event that will count for NCAA Division I singles and doubles rankings. It is an opportunity for all players to improve their rankings and the invitational offers a unique experience to showcase the highest-level of collegiate tennis at its very best.

All matches and events will be hosted at the California Tennis Club, the oldest existing tennis club West of the Mississippi River and the eighth oldest club in the U.S. Admission is free and the matches are open to the public. More details on the schedule of events, competitors, bracket draws and more will be released at a later date.
