Battle in the Bay Classic Draw/Results

SAN FRANCISCO – The ninth annual Battle In The Bay Classic got under way on Friday at historic California Tennis Club with the San Francisco Dons advancing a pair of singles players and a doubles duo to the next round of action. 
 
In the women's open doubles quarterfinal round, the Dons pairing of Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield defeated Pacific's Roos Nederstigt and Maayan Sela, 8-5.  Bui/Maxfield will next play USC's Anglea Kulikov and Rebecca Weissmann in the semifinal round at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23.
 
Maxfield also defeated Nederstigt in singles play, winning in straight sets, 6-3; 6-3.  Maxfield will next play Kulikov at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the singles quarterfinal round. 
 
On the men's side, Johan Joenhagen defeated Sameer Kumar in three-sets, 3-6; 7-5; 6-1 in the round of 32.  Joenhagen will play UC Santa Barbara's Nicolas Moreno de Alboran at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. 

Tomorrow's tournament schedule includes men's and women's doubles in the morning, beginning at 9 a.m., followed by an afternoon of singles action on the courts of the Cal Club. Fans are welcome and encouraged to attend the action at the Cal Club, but for those not in attendance, follow all the day's action with a court side video livestream.
