Battle in the Bay Classic Draw/Results

SAN FRANCISCO – In day two of the Battle In The Bay Classic (BBC), the University of San Francisco tennis program notched wins in six men's singles, two women's singles and one men's doubles matches, all in the consolation round to highlight Saturday's play at the historic California Tennis Club. 
 
The Dons men's doubles duo of Johan Joenhagen and Ryan Marker notched a win in the back draw against Boise State's Jack Heslin and Matteo Tinelli, 8-1, to kick start the day for USF. 
 
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SINGLES PLUS WOMEN'S DOUBLES
 
San Francisco looked to carry the momentum with one doubles and two singles playing for an opportunity to advance to the next round of the BBC, however, each of their bids came up short. 
 
The USF women's doubles team of Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield, coming off a win on Friday, lost 8-2 to USC's Angela Kulikov and Rebecca Weissmann. 
 
Next up for the Dons was the men's singles bracket between Joenhagen and UC Santa Barbara's Nicolas Moreno de Alboran. The match would go three-sets with Moreno de Alboran winning 6-4; 2-6; 6-1 advancing him to the quarterfinal round. 
 
Maxfield returned later in the day to play her singles match and looking to exact payback from her doubles loss against USC's Kulikov, but came up on the short end, losing 6-4; 6-4. 
 
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CONSOLATION
 
In the back draw consolation bracket, the Dons men's team found much success with Ryan Marker, Oliver Poysti and Mert Zincirli each winning two matches to occupy three of the four semifinal spots for men's singles on Sunday.  It assures that at least one Don will be in the finals.
 
Marker will be matched up against Cal's Jacob Brunn in one semifinal bracket with Dons teammates Poysti and Zincirli playing against one another in the other bracket.  Both matches will be played at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday with the finals scheduled for 1:30 p.m. 
 
For the women, Hanna Borjeson will be in Sunday's women's singles consolation final after picking up two wins.  In the final, Borjeson will go up against Fresno State's Juliane Triebe at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.   

Sunday's tournament finale schedule will begin at 9 a.m.  Fans are welcome and encouraged to attend the action at the California Tennis Club, but for those not in attendance, follow all the day's action with a court side video livestream.
