PROVO, Utah — The USF Dons baseball team (12-11, 3-6) is back to work this weekend as they'll head north to the mountains of Utah for a three-game series with the BYU Cougars (9-18, 3-6) beginning on Thursday, April 6 at 5:00 p.m. from Miller Park.
USF is back on the road for their third conference road series of the season following a tremendous weekend against Pacific where they took two of three over the Tigers as they scored 35 combined runs across all three games in the Central Valley. On the mound,
Adam Shew turned his best outing of the season as he tossed seven scoreless innings against the Tigers last Saturday in his team's 14-0 victory.

THINGS TO KNOW:
- USF prepares for a big weekend series with a Cougar team that's currently tied with them in the WCC standings as each fight for positioning midway through conference action with the calendar flipped to April.
- Two key pieces of the Dons' offensive attack this season has been the sustained excellence from infielder Mario DeMera and catcher Michael Campagna who are each hitting north of .350 on the season as the two have combined for 39 RBI and 32 runs scored this year.
- Pitching some key innings as a part of USF's weekend rotation has been Jesse Barron who leads his team with a 3.72 ERA while making six starts this season having allowed only two home runs this year with opponents only hitting .232 against them this season.
- The Dons' defense has ranked among the best in the league as USF currently ranks second in the WCC with a .976 field percentage with just a one-hundredth of a point behind first place LMU heading into the weekend.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
- BYU has yet to get going this season as they've posted a 9-18 overall record with a 3-6 mark in the WCC as they fell short against Washington State on the road and dropped two of three against Gonzaga and LMU on the road earlier in league play.
- Leading the Cougars' offense this season has been the stellar play of senior infielder Austin Deming who has hit .377 this season with seven home runs and 27 RBI which ranks fourth in the league for both batting average and homers.
- On the mound, freshman right-handed pitcher Ben Hansen has excelled in a variety of roles on the BYU staff as he's pitched in nine games and made three starts with an 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA with opposing hitters posting a .271 batting average against Hansen.
