SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (17-24), playing in its fourth straight game, dropped a narrow decision to No. 18 Oregon (28-12), falling 7-2 Monday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco came out aggressive to begin the contest and gained a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the opening frame. Aided by a throwing error with two outs and two runners aboard, Myles Kallinger scored the game's first run when Logan Leax punched a single to left field, giving the Dons the early advantage.
- Oregon responded in the following inning, scoring two runs on a fielder's choice and a sacrifice bunt to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Ducks continued to extend their advantage in the later frames, scoring runs in the fourth, fifth, and eighth innings to secure a 7-1 lead.
- Leax came through for the Dons in the bottom of the ninth inning, posting his second RBI on a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Michael Campagna, who tripled in the previous at-bat.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Leax recorded the Dons' lone two RBI, leading the team offensively while going one-for-three at the plate.
- Campagna picked up his third career triple in the ninth inning and scored a run.
- Quentin Pohorski, Gabriel Barrett, and Cal Amborn combined for three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and totaling two strikeouts.
