
Stanford Gains Late Lead, Downs San Francisco on The Farm

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (22-24) dropped its final midweek contest of the season, falling at Stanford (23-22) 12-5 Wednesday evening at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco jumped ahead in the opening inning when Jared Lewis crossed home plate on a Trevor Harmon RBI double for a 1-0 lead.
- After Stanford leveled in the bottom of the first, the Dons scored three times in the following frame to gain a 4-1 advantage. Isaiah Landry recorded a two RBI double down the left field line and later scored on a Jayden Garrison base hit.
- The Cardinal scored four unanswered runs in the bottom of the second, third, and sixth innings to gain a 5-4 lead, capped off by a Nolan Stoll solo home run over the left-field wall.
- The Dons tied the game at five in the top of the seventh inning when Lewis reached on a bases-loaded fielder's choice, scoring Jordan Lewis.
- Stanford regained the lead shortly after and added seven runs throughout the final three frames to solidify the 12-5 victory.
- Landry led San Francisco offensively, going two-for-three at the plate with a double, two RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
- Lewis, Garrison, and Harmon combined for three hits, two doubles, and three RBI at the top of the lineup.
- Eleven pitchers made an appearance on the mound for the green and gold, with Cal Amborn and Paul Wheeler each throwing a scoreless frame. Amborn and Hunter Holzemer recorded two strikeouts apiece while the Dons totaled seven punchouts throughout the contest.
- Alan Gonzalez earned his fourth start of the season and allowed one run on two hits in one inning of work.
