SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Candy Edokpaigbe has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the University of San Francisco women's basketball team to a victory at Long Beach State, announced by the conference Monday morning.
Edokpaigbe propelled San Francisco in its lone contest last week at Long Beach State, registering 22 points on 56.3 percent (nine-for-16) shooting, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Her four assists matched a career-best set against Utah Tech on March 11, 2025, while playing at Seattle U.
Through five games this season, Edokpaigbe leads the team and ranks first in the West Coast Conference in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. She has scored in double figures in four of the five games played while totaling 20 or more three times. She also ranks second in the WCC in field goal percentage (.565), fifth in steals per game (2.2) and minutes per game (31.0), and 13th in total blocks (five).
In the national rankings, Edokpaigbe is one of 33 players in Division I averaging 18.0 points per game on at least 50 percent shooting. She ranks 63rd in the nation in field goal percentage and tied for 58th in points per game.
For San Francisco, this weekly award marks the second for the team this season. Aina Cargol was named WCC Freshman of the Week on November 17.
