Hall of Fame
The 1997 University of San Francisco women's golf team makes history upon entering the USF Athletics Hall of Fame, as this group is just the third women's team in school history to enter the Hall as a team (1980 women's basketball, 1996 women's basketball). Led by head coach Mark Priede, who was named West Coast Conference (WCC) Coach of the Year in 1997, this team captured the 1997 women's golf title with a score of 670 at the WCC Championships, which were hosted at Bayonet Golf Club in Fort Ord. The championship marked the first-ever conference title for the USF women's golf program.
Maria Borjesson won the individual title, firing an 11-over-par 159 over the two-day event. Erin Rogers was close behind her teammate, tying for fifth at 24-over-par 168. Prior to the conference tournament, Borjesson was named WCC Player of the Year, earning All-Conference honors for her efforts throughout the season.
