Biography

2011 SEASON: Started 24 games for the Dons and played in 38 taking the field behind the plate, in left field and as the designated hitter… turned in a perfect fielding percentage, making zero errors with 187 put outs and 24 assists… totaled three runs, an RBI, a walk, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch against UC Davis (2/27)… put together his first multiple-hit game of the season against Fresno State (4/2), going 3-for-4 with a double… went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a double against Santa Clara (4/23)… finished 3-for-4 against Pepperdine (5/14).

2010 SUMMER: Played for the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League champion: Bethesda Big Train… posted a .277 batting average and 0.989 fielding percentage, playing in 32 games.

2010 SEASON: Appeared in 26 games and started nine… hit .244 with five doubles… notched two doubles against Cal Poly (2/28)… totaled two RBI against UC Riverside (3/21)… went 2-for-2 with a double against Gonzaga (4/10)… hit an RBI double against New Mexico (4/21). 

2009 SEASON: Played in 23 games and started six as a freshman... batted .185 (5-for-27) with four RBI, three runs scored, four walks, and one stolen base... made his collegiate debut at the University of Texas - San Antonio (2/21)... earned first collegiate hit versus Gonzaga at the Palm Springs Tournament (3/8)... scored a run on two walks at Pacific (4/7)... singled at home versus Pacific (5/5)... had a career day, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs, and a walk at San Diego (5/9)... had a hit, an RBI, and stole his first career base the next day versus the Toreros (5/10).

PREP CAREER: Played four years of baseball at West High School... as a freshman batted .427 with one homerun and 23 RBI... his sophomore year, he batted .385 with six doubles, two homeruns, and 16 RBI... as a junior batted .360 with 32 hits, four doubles, two triples, two homeruns, and 19 RBI... his senior year he batted .378 with seven doubles, one triple and six homeruns... was named to the All-Bay League First Team three times, All-Daily Breeze First Team three times, and All-CIF twice... earned Team MVP as a sophomore and League MVP as a junior and senior... also ran one season of Cross Country.

PERSONAL: Born in October of 1990 in Bellflower, CA... son of Craig and Jodi Morioka... father Craig played baseball at California Lutheran University and uncle Todd Tsujimura played at LMU... goal for the season is to learn as much as he can... chose USF for the coaching staff, the University's reputation, and the location... would like to be Manny Ramirez for a day... favorite quote is attributed to Robert Collier, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out"... lists his father as the most impressive person he has met... would like to become a coach or go to graduate school after graduation... favorite movie is Step Brothers... favorite book is Tell No One by Harlan Coben... favorite musical artist is AC/DC... favorite food is Filet Mignon... hobbies include fishing, playing cards, and cooking... majoring in Exercise and Sports Science.
