2011 SEASON: Started every game for the Dons this season at first base… led the team in multiple RBI games with 11 and notched multiple hits in 16 games… put together a .993 fielding percentage… set the single-season school record for put outs with 502… second on the team in RBIs (34)… hit .274 with 17 extra-base hits, 16 walks and six sacrifice flies… first multiple hit day came at Lamar (3/3), where he went 3-for-5 with two RBI… hit two doubles against Long Beach State (3/12)… totaled two hits, two RBIs and a double against San Jose State (3/15)… added two RBIs and two hits against California (3/16)… went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a double at Portland (4/16)… was 2-for-4 with a walk and his first home run of the season at Portland (4/17)… smashed two RBIs in each of this first three at bats against Santa Clara (4/23) to finish with six RBIs, two doubles and a walk… went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk against Loyola Marymount (4/29)… totaled two hits, two runs, two RBIs and a home run at San Diego (5/6)… went 2-for-4 against Cal State Bakersfield (5/24)… finished the day 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a home run and a walk at Gonzaga (5/27)… hit his second home run of the series against Gonzaga (5/29)… went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to led the Dons to a 3-0 win against No. 12 UCLA in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional (6/3).
2010 SUMMER: Played for the Lowell All-Americans in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and totaled a .286 batting average with a 0.98 fielding percentage.
PREP CAREER: Batted .368 as a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School... had 10 doubles, four homeruns, and batted in 26... earned First Team All-WCAL and Second Team All-CCS.
PERSONAL: Born in October of 1989 in Los Gatos, CA... son of Steven and Barbara Balog... cousin Jason Haniger is a catcher for Georgia Tech... dad played baseball at San Diego State... goal for the season is to make it to a regional... chose USF because of the coaches and the city... thinks the best thing about being a student athlete is the relationships you make... likes the diversity in San Francisco... lists his grandmother, Patrina, as the most impressive person he has met... favorite movie is Step Brothers... favorite book is The Alchemist... favorite musical artist is Toby Keith... favorite food is Sushi... hobbies include weight lifting... majoring in Business Marketing.
