Hustling player with great ball skills including pinpoint passes. 2005: Played in 21 games with 16 starts...led the team with seven assists and added four goals including two game winners...game winning goals vs. San Jose State, and at Gonzaga (in WCC title clincher)...scored USF's only goal in NCAA loss at SMU in 2004: became one of USF's offensive leaders with one goal and six assists as a sophomore...always dangerous on free-kick situations...assisted on three game-winners: twice against St.Mary's and once against San Diego...scored USF's only goal in overtime loss at USD. 2003: selected Honorable Mention All-WCC...was the team's leading scorer as a freshman with four goals and four assists...played in 20 games, starting 15... shared the Stephen Negoesco Award for best contribution by an underclassman ...scored a goal late in game vs. CS Northridge to pull USF to within one, gave the Dons the early lead in loss to Cal, scored in 6-0 win over Sacramento State, and sent the game at UC Santa Barbara into overtime with second half goal...assisted on game winning goal vs. St. Mary's....his play for the Dons affirmed his selection as First Team All-CIF as a senior and Second Team as a junior at Woodridge High School...he was also captain of the team...Matt played with Irvine Strikers Club for seven years...club won four state and a national title. Visser says: "Matt is one of the best distributors of the ball in our league. His teammates know to find an open area and he will get them the ball."
