Chris Gossert was a native of Hilo, Hawaii and attended Waiakea High School. He batted left and threw right and at 6' 2", 170 lbs, pitched for the Dons from 1998 to 2001.
In the second game, Jeremy Holiday (1-0) and Chris Gossert combined for USF's first shutout of the season, 2-0. Holiday threw seven scoreless innings, giving up only four hits. On Wednesday, Omori came through again for USF, going 2 for 3 with two RBI to pace the Dons in an 8-7 win over UH-Hilo in the first game of a double-header. Keali'i Lum also contributed with one RBI while going 2 for 2 at the plate. Jeff Bowman (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, going four innings and giving up five runs on six hits. Pritchard and first basemen Taggert Bozied both went 2 for 4 with Bozied driving in one run for USF in a 6-4 win. Gossert (1-0) snagged the win for the Dons in the fourth and final game of the series, giving up one hit in 1 1/3 innings after Thogersen went 6 2/3 innings (TheFoghorn).
