John Senestraro was a native of Fortuna, CA and played both basketball and baseball for the Dons. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Marketing.
The forward positions are still up in the air. Fighting it out for starting roles are Glen Baylor, Syd Bruce, Wayne Kennedy, Jack Howell, and Tom McNamara. Baylor, the tallest forward at 6' 5", was All-Northern California Small Schools, and All-County his junior and senior years at Middleton High. John Senestraro from Fortuna High; John Lucchesi from Chico; Leroy Sacchini and Don Coughlin, from St. Joseph's in Alameda; and Tom Valverde from St. Augustine's, San Diego, round out the squad.
On Friday, the Don nine swamped Presidio, 11-2, as they avenged an earlier defeat to the Army men. Bill Enos hurled the entire contest for USF and allowed only two hits, both in the fourth inning. The Dons got seven big runs in the second frame. Four singles, a double, and a bases-clearing triple by second baseman John Senestraro gave the Hilltoppers the win. Enos, Senestraro, Kirkes and Bob Norton each had two hits in the winning effort (TheFoghorn).
