Wendy Jo Phelps was a power forward, 6' 1", who played limited time due to two injuries her first two seasons at USF, but averaged 6.2 PPG and 4.3 rebounds. She played for the Dons from 1990 to 1994 and graduated in 1994.
The Dons come off of one of their most spectacular campaigns since the 1992 co-championship year of back court mates; current Assistant Coach Tami Adkins and Amy Touli and a talented front line of Wendy Jo Phelps and Dawn Baker. With the same veteran starters of all of last year, this team has a year more of experience under its belt. With a potential Player-of-the-Year candidate in Valerie Gillon (6-3, SR, and a definate cinch for another All-WCC pick in Brittany Lindhe (5-9, SO), the team might continue their 16 game league winning streak long into this current season. Wendy Jo Phelps has been one of the lone bright spots for the Dons this season. Wendi Jo Phelps and Valerie Gillon each had 16 points, but poor team shooting down the stretch sealed the defeat. USF shot just 28% in the second half, and scored just five points in the final five minutes (TheFoghorn).
