Going into the final inning (the 2nd game of the double-header is always 7 innings) senior right hander Ron Ardissone was working on a three-hitter, and was able to hold USD scoreless. The bottom of the 7th started out with a line drive single from junior Scott Rapposclli. Then a base on balls from Dave LaRosa and another base on balls from junior Tim DiLullo. So the Dons had the bases loaded with nobody out. With Rapposelli on third, the next pitch got away from thc USD catcher. Rapposelli took a few steps towards home then hesitated. He then made up his mind and took off full speed towards home, as the catcher scrambled for the ball. The catcher and Rapposelli arrived at the plate at the same time bul Rapposelli slid safely under the tag to seal the dramatic victory. It was a great ending to a well played ballgame. Senior Ron Ardissone recorded the victory, with a three-hitter. "As soon as Tim (DiLullo) walked to load the bases, I knew we were going to win it" he said (TheFoghorn).
