Philip Gastineau was a native of Seattle, WA and attended Seattle Preparatory High School. He was a member of the Block Club and graduated in Business in 1959. He was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in 1949 as a member of ROTC.Â
If awards were being passed out this spring for top academic ability among Don athletes, names high on the list would be those of LeRoy Rice, Alsie Hicks, Gene Sweeters, right end Phil Gastineau, J. Ryan, Ralph Thomas, Mike Scarpelli and Merrill Peacock. Gastineau, when sound of limb, played some good defensive ball last, season and established himself as a quick thinker and has improved his pass receiving (TheFoghorn).
