Biography: Nicolopulos was a two-sport athlete on the Hilltop. He was originally recruited to play men's basketball and played for the freshman basketball team during the 1966-1967 season. He switched to baseball and joined the Diamond Dons under Dante Benedetti in 1968 and was quickly converted from an outfielder to a pitcher. After graduation, he taught and coached at El Camino High School down the Peninsula. 
Why Nicolopulos Chose USF: "USF had a great basketball tradition. I followed the Dons through grade school and high school. I was recruited by Pete Peletta for basketball and ended up playing baseball." 
Favorite USF Memories: "Playing for Dante Benedetti after he converted me from outfielder to pitcher, he was a wonderful man. I also remember striking out a future major league manager and player Bob Boone at Stanford."
The USF Student-Athlete Experience: "I had great teammates and coaches. We had great camaraderie. I made lifelong friendships with Pete Barry, Don Russo, and Bill Riley."
Life After USF: Nicolopulos taught at El Camino High School in South San Francisco and coached varsity basketball and golf from 1972 to 2006. He's currently retired and lives on the Peninsula.
