For the second time this season, the Dons' running game dominated the once strong USF passing attack as backs Hal Phillips and Greg Dawidczik accounted for 166 yards rushing. The Hilltoppers only had 102 yards passing — way below their 240-yard-per-game average on the year. Dawidczik ran for 104 yards which included a 31- yard romp in the second quarter. His performance was welcomed by the Dons as he had missed the previous two games due to a leg injury. Dawidczik's battery mate, the bruising Phillips, hit for 75 hard-earned yards in 21 carries.
