Ike Sofaer played soccer at USF and graduated in 1964. He went on to serve as Head Coach of the Blackhawks of the Soccer League First Division, and he played with Real Marin, a Marin County Soccer team, as early as 1962 (MarinIndJournal).

Against San Jose, the Dons took a 1-0 lead just before the half, on a pass from Rick Olivas to Tony Sullivan, who booted in the goal. Ike Sofaer kicked in what proved to be the winning tally, as the Dons maintained a slim 2-1 margin throughout the remainder of the tight, tense contest.

Maintaining a strong offensive attack, the Dons constantly kept the pressure on the Gators, forcing them to defend their goal throughout the first period. USF's only first quarter tally came on Olivas' first score, a penalty shot at 14:45 in the period. The teams played evenly for the opening part of the .second quarter but the Don offense once again gained momentum as Ike Sofaer recovered a State pass miscue and relayed it to Montez, who scored at 14:45. The next Don tally came only fifteen seconds later, as Olivas again succeeded on a penalty kick (TheFoghorn).
