Denise MacDougal, who played volleyball for the Dons from 1989 to 1993, set the record in USF history for 3,464 career assists.

To compete effectively in the West Coast Conference this season the Dons are going to have to rely heavily on three seniors, Lisa Tschannen, Kim Goodwin and Denise MacDougal. All three played exceptionally well in defeating Nevada-Reno (1-3). The 1990 team MVP and Second Team All-WCC, Tschannen will again be called upon to dominate the net. Tschannen is a lot more focused this season and she will hold down the middle blocker position only. "Now, Lisa's role will be as our primary offensive weapon," explained Bethanis. "To put it simply, she will be getting the ball a lot, and it will be up to her to wheel and deal." Tschannen led the Dons in kills Monday with 15, while four others were also in double-digits.

Benefitting from an excellent spring and improved conditioning, Goodwin, who is also a middle blocker, is expected to continue to improve within the USF system. "Kim grew as a player by leaps and bounds as a junior, but now she is ready to take it to another level," Bethanis said. "She has worked very hard and should have the type of senior year that she deserves."

MacDougal, thc teams leading setter will have the challenge of running the Dons motion offense. As USF's All-Time Assist leader, MacDougal has already proved her value to the program. "Denise had a great spring," noted Bethanis, "she is setting well and communicating with the middle blockers (TheFoghorn)."
