Career Highlights: Three-year letter winner for the Men's Golf team

Biography: Galvin played on the golf team in the the mid 1970's when the golf team existed because the school needed a fourth division one program to compete in the NCAA. The members of the golf team often drove themselves to matches.

Why Galvin Chose USF: "My father went to USF and grew up and was best friends with our late President, Father John LoSchiavo."

Favorite USF Memories: "Golf was way down the priority list compared to basketball, soccer and baseball. We were lucky to get a sleeve or balls and travel money. I played in 1974 with now sportswriter and golf journalist Jaime Diaz. He was a great guy then and still appears to be a great guy when he is on TV. I also played in the number one spot against Stanford great Ali Trompas and I got my butt kicked."

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: "I really enjoyed living on campus for two years. I made lots of friends and not just golfers. Back then I don't think golfers were really recognized as student-athletes."

Did You Know?: Galvin was friends with USF basketball Hall of Famer James Hardy and "borrowed" Hardy's custom van to drive to a golf tournament in Reno. Unfortunately, Galvin got rousted by the casino police for sleeping in the van.

Life After USF: Galvin went to USF Law School, graduated and passed the bar in 1979. He then moved back to his hometown of Santa Rosa and went to work for a sole practitioner. Galvin is now the managing partner of Shapiro, Galvin, Shapiro & Moran. He has three adult children and three grandchildren, and has been refereeing high school basketball for 40 years, including one state final game. Galvin is the Board Chair for the City of Santa Rosa's Board of Public Utilities, and board member of the North Coast Builders Exchange and the Catholic Community Foundation.
