Linda Fischer-Werk attended USF from 1975 to 1980 and played two sports. She graduated with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts in 1980 and earned multiple Teaching Credentials at Chapman University from 2001 to 2004. She worked in the Intramural Office at USF, and is now teaching for the Fremont, CA Unified School District.

Terri Berg took her place on the mound and breezed through the Sonoma lineup while her teammates opened up their long dormant bats with 12 runs on nine hits. Leading the way was first baseman Sue Drengacz who had three hits in five trips to the plate while driving in two runs. Catcher Cathy McCoy had four RBI's, three coming on a bases loaded triple in the fourth. Leanne Stoddard and Linda Fischer both drove in two runs while Barb Goschke scored three times.

But the Dons overtook them in the second inning. Leanne Stoddard drew a walk, Linda Fischer and Cathy McCoy were hit by pitches, all of which loaded the bases. After Michelle Hernandez popped out, Chamberlin was walked, and the first USF run came home. Liebespeck followed with a single, giving USF a 2-1 lead. In the fifth, the Dons picked up an insurance run when Liebespeck singled. Sue Drengacz doubled and Leanne Stoddard singled. The final score read 3-1.

Fran Englesse ended up topping all USF scorers with 17 points on 8 field goals. Sue Enos and Linda Fischer each added 12 points. Enos also pitched in 9 rebounds and Fischer collected five assists. Celine Watters, playing her last game as a Don thew in 8 points. Katie Holl and Clarice Cuaresma each added 6 points and Kim Stieglitz chipped in the other four points. Despite the loss, the contest was a great finish to a successful year for the Women's basketball program. Plans are underway for even bigger and better things next year. Linda Fischer drives baseline on Cal in the Don contest with the Golden Bears at the Coliseum (TheFoghorn).
