The Diamond Dons enter the 1989 season with a fresh outlook. They'll begin their regular season Friday against UC Davis with many changes from last season. Coach Ken Bowman, entering his ninth season as the Dons skipper, describes his team as "defensively solid. Last year," he said "we had too many players playing out of position and our defensive performance really suffered because of this. We have a lot more depth this year." Ted Langowski, when not pitching, will be sharing first base duties with with junior transfer Scott Taylor. USF has three possible starters behind the plate. Jim West, Rick Dardis, and Brian Dakin, all junior transfers are all capable of the task (TheFoghorn).
