On the road again at Berkeley, the Frosh fell to California 3-0. Herb Kuss had silenced the Bears heavy artillery through the first six innings, but the Don righthander was the victim of a three-run homer in the seventh.

The skid started against Stanford's league-leading Papooses. The hard-hitting Indians broke up a 2-2 tie in the third inning, going on to rout the Dons and mounds man Herb Kuss, 9-2. Ed Kurakazu's clothesline double had drawn USF to a temporary stand-off with Stanford. Santa Clara's Broncos stayed within a game of the Indians two days later by handing the Dons twin setbacks in a doubleheader at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncs jumped on Chris Calhoon for seven runs in the first two innings, and went on to register an 8-2 win in the opener (TheFoghorn).
