For a time it seemed that the reserves had learned to work together. Feliciano began the deluge with a left footed shot from the right side of the field. Salvador Ochoa scored the Dons fourth goal on a 30 yard shot from the right corner. Before the visiting team could settle down from their previous setbacks, Shaw Dehghan and Larry Dineen smashed in two more 10 yard shots from the left and right sides of the field respectively. USF struck "pay-dirt" for the final time when Dehghan shoved in a rebounding shot from the foot of Leon Heitman.

With only a few minutes remaining in the contest, the Dons, although they had dominated the whole game, remained tied with the Spartans. Alex Roboostoff again came through with a clutch goal to break the tie when he took a pass from Leon Heitmann, and booted it 26 yards into the goal. Seconds later, Ted Psaras iced the game when he picked up a loose ball in front of the San Jose goal, and kicked it five yards into the goal (TheFoghorn).
