Farley Gates played basketball for the Dons from 1980-1982, and transferred to Tulane University when the USF basketball program was shut down.

As of last Wednesday afternoon, Farley Gates, Eric Booker, and John Martins have all signed letters of intentions to attend the University of San Francisco and play basketball for the Dons. Gates is a 6' 8'' center from New Hampshire. In his senior year of high school he averaged eighteen points a game and brought down twelve rebounds. He received All-State, Conference, and Region honors and is a consensus All-American. He will play the role of back-up center and will hopefully spend time at the forward position.

The undergrads have dispersed across the country. Junior guard Eric Booker left for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Quintin Dailey, senior, went hardship and to the Chicago Bulls, sophomore Farley Gates is now at Tulane. Rogue Harris, a redshirt, transferred to Hawaii. John Martens, a sophomore, is at San Diego. Mike Matheson took his shoes to Oregon, and Crosetti Speight also went to Hawaii (TheFoghorn).
