Kenyon Jones was born on October 12, 1977. He attended Beach High School in Savannah, GA . The 6-foot-10 forward-center, played his first three college seasons (1995-1998) at the University of Cal Berkeley, averaging 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds as a junior. After transferring to USF for his senior year, he was chosen as the WCC's Player of the Year, while averaging 16. 5 points and 9.0 rebounds for the Dons.

Jones played in Greece's top Greek Basket League for four years with  Panionios, Panathinaikos, and Maroussi, and in the Russian club dynamo Moscow from 2003 to 2004. Jones was invited to play with the Denver Nuggets NBA Summer League squad in 2005, but he did not make the team. Jones was also a part of the senior North Macedonia national basketball team.
