USF's Jason Warren (1-0) picked up the victory in relief of Trevor Schaffer by going 5-7/8 innings, allowing two hits and two runs (SFGate).  He was a relief pitcher for the Dons in 1996 who batted and threw right, at 6' 5", 215 lbs. He was a native of Agoura Hills, CA, and attended Pierce JC (914.3.12 ERA, 116.0 IP: 79 Kg).

Starter Trevor Schaffer only threw 3 1/3 innings before Jason Warren went to to close out the final 5 2/3 innings for his first win of the year. The second game of the doubleheader in the state's capital was stopped due to darkness, and it is unclear when it will be completed. To open up the year, after the rain washed out the opener against Nevada-Reno, the Dons held off a Gator rally to win 7-5 after leading 6-0 after four innings. "Against SF State, we worked out some jitters and came away with a pretty good win there," Hill said.

The most recent game was an 11-5 thumping by number-four UC Berkeley at Evans Diamond in which a seven run eighth inning sealed the Dons fate. The loss was the Hilltop's third in a row and showed how the big inning by the opponent each time sunk the Dons into a deeper hole. "I think we're at a low point in our season right now," pitcher Jason Warren said, who gave up eight hits and four earned runs in five innings versus Utah. "The only place to go is up. What we can do is learn from what happened this past weekend and make the rest of the season successful (TheFoghorn)."
