Career Highlights: Four-year letter winner for Men's Tennis

Biography: Koch was a four-year letter winner at USF from 1979-1982 on the men's tennis team. He played on the Hilltop during a time when USF was becoming known for its recruitment and acceptance of international players across all sports and Koch enjoyed that diversity. He moved back to his home country after graduation.

Why Koch Chose USF: "The attraction for me was the ability to attend a smaller school in a great city, San Francisco."

Favorite USF Memories: "The thing I remember was the the great camaraderie within the team. We were quite multinational with teammates from South Africa, Austria and myself from Australia and we became quite close to the soccer players who were also very diverse."

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: "Really for me it was the discipline required that served me well in life after graduation. I really liked the structure around being a student-athlete."

Life After USF: Koch moved back to Australia in 1986 and works in the Finance sector.

Also expected to make significant contributions to Coach chuck White's squad are walk-ons Eddie James and Matt Koch. James is a former San Francisco High School champion and is considered by many coaches as one of the fastest players on the west coast. Koch is another one of the fine players coming out of Australia's fine junior development program, and adds to the team a knack for the doubles game, so characteristic of Aussie players (USFFoghorn).
