The Dons should not face even a reasonable facsimile of Wanlin next season as the Salesian High grid coach led the offense that punted only once all afternoon (USF was just forced to punt once also). Another defensive aspect which aroused the fans at the Chico game was the failure by the Dons to make the same defensive mistake twice. This asset was exemplified when Chico was successful on a screen pass to the right side of the field but, when trying the same play to the left, was thwarted by the heads-up job of linebacker Rick Reid. Steve Haag and Rick Reid both stood out with their bone-jarring tackles that would have made Dick Butkus smile (TheFoghorn).
