During the season, Visser concentrated on recruiting support for Haines. Kim Nestoroff from Claremont, Pamela Riggs from Covina, and Dawn Koch from Boise, Idaho are "solid forward threats" according to Visser. USF returns some very fine players from its 1988 squad. Sophomores Marni Selway and Moana Asam, and junior Margaret Lucey anchor the backfield. Goalkeeper Aileen Blackburn, a sophomore, returns after recording two shutouts last season.
The Dons dominated the Beavers as Aileen Blackburn recorded her first shutout of the year in the goal. Blackburn has been sharing time with freshman Dawn Koch, who was injured in a 5-1 loss at the hands of Cal. Koch recorded shutouts against Evergreen State and Occidental, and has not been scored on this season (TheFoghorn).
