    Men's Soccer (1968-1970)
Last week was a perfect week for the USF Varsity Soccer team. They crushed the University of Pacific, 10-0, and blanked San Francisco State, 4-0. It goes without saying that neither team gave the Dons very much trouble. The UOP joyride was no contest from the opening whistle, as USF scored 3 goals in the first quarter, 3 in the second, and 2 each in the third and fourth periods. Leading the Green and Gold's attack were Ted Psaras and Emilio Ugarte with three markers apiece. Alex Roboostoff collected two, while Fernando Rosales and Torgeir Hague each chipped in one. The Dons played very well in the first and fourth quarters and in between performed adequately. Their passing was very good and Coach Steve Negoesco experimented by substituting freely throughout the game. Despite the fact that no player likes to come out, Coach Negoesco is building a much stronger club by his substitution methods. Against Pacific, for example, one or two individuals could possibly have scored five goals. However their replacements on the bench would only be watching him score, not trying to score by himself. By substituting, the players have to understand that they are strengthening their team immeasurably in case any of the front-liners are injured. A combat experienced replacement will perform much better than one who has gotten only splinters to show for his appearance during the season. Turning to the San Francisco State contest, forward Ted Psaras again led the Don scoring with two goals. And again in this game goalie Mike Ivanow had very few shots to stop, only 3 in the UOP game (TheFoghorn).
