Melissa Lentz played soccer for the Dons for four seasons, she was a native of Tempe, AZ and attended McClintock High School.
Returning to USF's defense line-up will be juniors Patricia Simons, Sara Keenan and Emma Green. Right now the task of replacing Clabaugh will go to Melissa Lentz, a freshman from Tempe, Arizona, whom Verhees describes as "a calm, physical, player who works well under pressure." She is expected to add speed to the sweeper position.
Verhees was particularly happy with the play his defense played. "We were very organized in the back," he said. Sweeper Melissa Lentz anchored the backfield for USF, which has only allowed one goal in the last four games, while junior goalkeeper Sandy Draghi recorded the third shutout for San Francisco, and her first solo shutout performance this season. Draghi was only pressured early on in the match when she had to come up with one-on-one saves for the Dons. The Dons defense was rewarded when freshman Melissa Lentz was selected to the All-Tournament team as San Francisco's only representative (TheFoghorn).
