Leading the mid-field will be Toben, who is scheduled to move from defense after scoring two goals from her defensive position last season, and senior Amy Yamamoto. After posting a winning season fot the fifth straight year in 1996, the Dons women's soccer team will be looking to keep up the trend this Fall, and possibly improve on their 10- 8-2 overall record. With 15 returning starters, depth and experience should also keep USF in range of the West Coast Conference title. "I think we have a very good chance of making the playoffs this year," junior Taja Toben said. "We will definitely be strong contenders in the WCC."
USF's first goal came early in the second half from midfielder Taja Toben who is playing, despite the 50 stitches still embedded in her forehead. "I still couldn't head the ball," Toben said, "but I decided to attempt to help out my team anyway." Toben carried the ball halfway up the field and faked one way before putting the ball past the UCLA goal keeper from 12 yards out. The goal was her third of the season. "I've never scored on a breakaway before," Toben said. "I just remember getting the ball at the half mark, dribbling up the sideline and thinking I better not miss (TheFoghorn).
