The big gun for this squad is Milan Metikosh, who plays on both units, switching from the guard spot on the slow unit to the center position on the speedy combo. Metikosh is a six-foot, 180-pounder from Hammond, Indiana, and Coach Bill sees for him a very favorable varsity career. Heralded as the fastest men on the team are Ward Healy and Dave Ahern, who also are the smallest men on the squad. Healy starred for Lowell High School here in the city, and Ahern comes from a long line of basketballers who all starred at St. Joseph's High School in Alameda. He is the younger brother of Bill Ahern who starred at Santa Clara last year.
Against the small, but fast and alert Chinese Mission team, we saw our Frosh team operating almost flawlessly, with rangy Milan Metikosh leading the way. Metikosh swished the net for 13 points, and was assisted by Bob Gardner and Dave Ahern, who scored 9 and 7 points respectively. A 58-26 win was a fitting climax of the fast game the Frosh boys played (TheFoghorn).
