Ken Ramirez was part of the rebirth of Dons basketball during the mid 1980s. He graduated in 1988. After USF, he transitioned into a professional career working under prestigious brands such as Coca-Cola, Bacardi, and his current position as the Regional Vice President at Body Armor.
The Jim Brovelli's coaching maneuvers paid off. He brought in Guisti and Ken Ramirez for starting forwards Anthony Mann and Pat Clardy, who were a miserable 3 of 18 for the tournament between them. Guisti and Ramirez combined for 12 points, and Al Attles, in for Jackson, headed a full court press that started a 20-8 run that had the Dons within six.
"I was surprised at their lack of defense," said Mitch Burley, a regular started who came off the bench against USF. They're probably quicker than us overall, and they didn't attack us. I was kind of surprised at how open I was." Burley and Chris Lane loosened up the Dons zone from outside in the first half with 8-for-8 shooting as the Broncos took a 40-33 lead at halftime. Mark McCathrion (10 points), Pat Clardy and Ken Ramirez (8 each) kept the Dons close (TheFoghorn).
