    Baseball (1996-1997)

Greg Marchbanks was a native of Fresno, CA and attended Bullard High School and then Fresno City College. He played baseball for the Dons for one season, and at 6' 3", 210 lbs, batted and threw right. 4-3. 3.77 ERA, 7 GS. 62 Inn. 40 Kg. He is 8th at USF with 9 completed games.

The Dons bats took fire as six players had multi-hit games. First baseman Matt Purkiss led the Dons going 2-for-4 and knocking in two runs, including a key two-run double in the third inning, which gave Rivera all the runs he would eventually need. Friday held the lone weekend loss for the Dons, 6-5, as Greg Marchbanks, who leads the team in both wins (6) and complete games (4), gave up five runs, three of them earned, over 7 and 2/3 innings. The Zags won the game in the bottom of the ninth as second baseman Travis Knight singled in Donnie Murrell with one out off reliever and closer Brad Marshall.

The constraints were mostly due to the front end of this doubleheader for the Dons, a 6-5 win over Lewis-Clark State. Starter Greg Marchbanks, who leads the team in wins with three, pitched a complete game for the Dons. Marchbanks scattered nine hits and five runs, and only walked one batter, as the Dons came away with their only win of the tournament (TheFoghorn).
