Zack Vaughn was a goalie for the Dons soccer team from 1995 to 1998.

As the league opener approaches, the Dons are beginning to solidify both their lineup and their style of play. It looks like Zack Vaughn has won the starting goalkeeping position, the defense is once again healthy, the midfield is now under the direction of both playmaker Erik Lemoine and team captain Jason Wescott, and the offense is once coming through. Now the stage is set for the premier game of the season, as national soccer dynasty Virginia ventures out to the West Coast. The Cavaliers are in for more than just a change of weather this weekend. USF is at its emotional and technical peak, so the Cavaliers may step out from the fog with their first defeat of the season.

Getting back to Friday, it was a great night to play football. The conditions were perfect for the Dons: a cool breeze and a light dew on the grass. The opponent on Sept. 13 was Navy and it was USF's first game in the MetLife Classic. Navy played a very defensive game, not really challenging USF's goalie, Zack Vaughn, who recorded his first shutout of the season (TheFoghorn).
