Edward Charles Lawton

Edward Charles Lawton, was born on September 19, 1918  in San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by his brother John Lawton of Pleasant Hill. Ed was an accomplished football and track and field athlete at Fresno State and USF. He went to USF on a football scholarship along with his brother John. He enlisted in the military during WWII and was an integral part of the physical training program for troops in North Carolina. After World War II he owned a cobbler shop in the Bay Area and also sold real estate. He was an award winning salesman at Stuart McGuire and Hanover Shoe Company (TributeArchive).

Ed Lawton, who played freshman football at USF, will be across the line from the Dons tomorrow night. He plays end for Fresno State. He is not to be confused with brother Jack Lawton, end on last year's Don varsity. He was a 6' 3", 193 lbs. tackle (TheFoghorn).
