James Daniel Mangan was born on September 24, 1929 –in San Francisco and attended St. Ignatius high School and the University of Santa Clara prior to transferring to USF. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1949 and joined the New York giants in 1956. He plated catcher and was 5' 10" and 190 lbs. He batted and threw right. He played three seasons in baseball and eight in the minor leagues. After his professional career, he taught high school and owned a small business (Wikipedia).
