Biography: Vincent was a two time First-Team All-West Catholic Athletic League pitcher from Serra High School in San Mateo. He earned his first pitching victory wearing Green and Gold against the University of the Pacific in 1979. He picked up his first collegiate save at Stanford University during his freshman year.
Why Vincent Chose USF: "USF had a great reputation as an academic catholic institution, and also because I got to play varsity baseball right away in front of my family and friends. Coach Ken Bowman recruited me from Serra High School."
Favorite USF Memories:Â "I met my wife Maria at USF. We fell in love right in front of the old Green and Gold cafeteria. Many of my teammates were from the Bay Area, so we bonded right away and still remain close friends to this day. We had some memorable and long bus rides to Las Vegas, Reno, Fresno and Southern California. Those were great times."
The USF Student-Athlete Experience: "I enjoyed getting to meet all of the other student-athletes from different sports. We all hung out together. Our professors were extra nice to us, and proud that we represented our university in a positive way."
Life After USF: Vincent has worked for State Farm Insurance, the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. He's married to his wife Maria, who he met on the Hilltop. Their daughter Monica Vincent Delia received her Masters Degree from USF in 2016, and their son John Vincent IV graduated from Wagner College in New York City.Â
