Bob McLaughlin played two sports for the Dons, baseball from 1958-1960, and football from 1956-1960. He graduated with a Degree in History in 1960 and was a member of the Propeller Club.

He was an ardent Giants fan, and often traveled to Spring Training in AZ. Bob was an educator for more than 30 years; he especially enjoyed teaching at SFUSD Independence High with an excellent staff that enjoyed their students and their common educational goals. Bob coached baseball at Balboa High, member of the Northern California Referees Association.

Thursday, San Francisco State will be the scene of nine innings as the Green and Gold squad clashes with the Gators on the State Diamond at 2:00. As yet Dutch hasn't announced the battery for the game. The USF pitching staff is composed of seven men: Pat Maudsley, Ken Stone, Tom Pasalacqua, John O'Neil, John Sullivan, Bob McLaughlin, and Denis Amundson The catching chores are a toss-up between junior Bill Cutler and soph John McCauley. The infield is composed of Ray Williamson at first, Jim Barbeau at second and Kirkes at third. Shortstop is held down by George Cabral.

The Dons lone tally came in the seventh frame. Second-sacker Bill Enos led the inning off with a triple, and came in when right-fielder Bob McLaughlin lashed out a single. Starting Don chucker Steve Whitlock had a wild first four innings as he gave up all six runs, then he settled down and shut out the San Joseans for the rest of the contest (TheFoghorn).
